Jimmy Campbell began his career in hairdressing in 1985. Even at that tender age he showed great promise, going on to develop and refine his skills with some of the most celebrated names in the West End of London. Having specialised in all hair types, Jimmy wasn’t just a highly qualified stylist; he possessed a versatility that was unique among his peers. In 1992, fuelled by entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for hairdressing, Jimmy scraped together the finances to open his first salon on St John’s Hill, Wandsworth, London.

With Jimmy’s irresistibly larger-than-life character, his unwavering commitment to customer care and with a talented team of staff behind him, the salon was a resounding success. Three years on and with over 1,500 clients on the books (some travelling from as far a field as Germany), it was time to move to the larger premises in Clapham Junction. The new salon afforded the space for training; taking on more staff keen to learn how to colour and style a diversity of hair types. With his reputation as an exceptional teacher and motivational leader stretching far and wide, there was never a shortage of applicants.

The man behind the Jimmy Campbell brand is now seen as more than an innovative colour and style technician and pioneer in the field of hairdressing. For the media he is also a role model and opinion leader, and as such has been the subject of countless magazine articles over the years. His unrivalled expertise has kept him in demand by many big name brands to test and evaluate new products prior to launch, while his discerning eye makes him invaluable as judge at one of the UK’s biggest hair industry events: the Annual Black Hair & Beauty Awards.

Now with a new salon open in Fulham, London, it seems Jimmy’s fortunes have taken him full circle.
